Saprophytes is a four-piece melodic death metal band based out of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire, consisting of vocalist Alex Reynolds, bassist Owen Masters, guitarist David Markowitz, and drummer Adam Thompson. Featuring members of local Ellicott City band Papercuts, they revive the spirit of ‘90s and ‘00s death metal and season it with modern influences. The band is no stranger to melodic guitars, distorted bass, and fast double-kick paired with aggressive, growling vocals. So far, Saprophytes has released three singles in their year of existence – “Autoparasite”, “Call Me God”, and most recently, “The Martyr” – and hope to deliver their best to the Morsbergers crowd.
